Language lost with passing of Indigenous elder, Tommy George Snr

Mourners have gathered to farewell of one of Cape York’s great elders, Tommy George Senior.

The 87-year-old was the last fluent speaker of the Awu Laya language, and 50,000 years of oral history dies with him.
